About the project:

This e-resource was developed as part of an on-going partnership with the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) and Canada Health Infoway (Infoway) and seeks to provide nursing faculty and students with;

  • core digital health content that could be integrated into courses;
  • interactive activities that highlight the intersection of informatics and nursing care in practice; and,
  • an option for self-directed learning about nursing informatics and digital health.

The content developed for this e-resource has been mapped to the CASN Entry-to-Practice Nursing Informatics Competencies and can be used by faculty to improve their own understanding of digital health and capacity for teaching the content.

Content from the Nursing Informatics Teaching Toolkit and the Consumer Health Solutions Resource have also been used throughout this e-resource and is provided in a more engaging format for educators and students.

Background:

In 2017 CASN received funding from Infoway to develop this e-resource with the objective of supporting the integration of digital health content in nursing education by leveraging knowledge products that were created in previous initiatives and updating them with the most current information about digital health in Canada.
