Canada Health Infoway and PrescribeIT™

Canada Health Infoway is working with Health Canada, provincial and territorial authorities, and industry stakeholders to operate and maintain PrescribeIT™, a national, not-for-profit e-prescribing service. E-prescribing, and the use of PrescribeIT™, is voluntary.

PrescribeIT™ connects the existing EMRs or stand alone applications used by community-based prescribers (including NPs) to community retail pharmacies. This allows all prescribers and pharmacies to participate, regardless of the technology they use, in a way that is minimally disruptive to existing prescribing workflows (PrescribeIT™, 2019).
