Recommendations for nurses with prescribing authority

Prepare electronic prescriptions in accordance with jurisdictional regulatory standards, provincial or territorial policies, being mindful of clinical practice guidelines for safe and effective care.
Demonstrate that clinical judgement for safe prescribing must prevail in the e-prescribing process, remaining cognizant of errors that can occur when generating an electronic prescription, and vigilantly reviewing the confirmation screen before sending.
