Technology errors and work arounds
- Work arounds are another potential safety issue that arise in the use of technologies, including e-prescribing.
- Work arounds are deviations from an intended work process to overcome an obstacle in order for a health care practitioner to meet a work demand (Patterson, 2018).
- Reasons for work arounds include:
- a response to a system error occurring.
- a technology that does not fit with work flow.
