Data Collection

Here are some examples that illustrate how ICT act as an interface for various data collection, input, or repository related to the management and processing of health care related information:

  • computerized provider order entry (CPOE) – used to input and process electronic orders and instructions (e.g., medication and treatment orders)
  • electronic medication administration record (eMAR) – used to generate a legal record of medication administration and treatment administration
  • clinical laboratory systems – used to house and display laboratory information
  • mobile applications that capture activity and lifestyle behaviours – used to track personal health data and create wellness care plans
