Future Direction of ICT in health care

Think about areas of your life that have been influenced by these forms of emergent technology:

  • Internet of Things (IoT) – technology that is seamlessly linked to each other via the Internet. Many types of smart-home technology (e.g., Nest) and other wearable devices (e.g., Fitbit) are representative of IoT technology.
  • Artificial intelligence / Robotics – the increased use of artificial intelligence and other robotic technology has been witnessed in niche areas of health care.
  • Personalized/precision health care – there has been an increasing use of genomic-based personalized health care approaches to support wellbeing and health.
  • Big Data – the use of various social media technologies and the increased standardization of data repositories has generated opportunities to conduct large pattern analyses on massive datasets
