Module Two

Information and Knowledge Management

Evaluating Health Information on the Internet

The National Library of Medicine suggests that thinking about the following may give you some ideas about the quality of the information on a website:

  • Who runs the site and why have they created it?
  • Who is paying for the site?
  • Does the site’s information favour the sponsor?
  • Where did the information on the site come from?
  • Is the information on the site up to date?
  • Has the information been reviewed by experts?
