Module Two
Information and Knowledge Management

Information Literacy
Information Literacy: “ is the set of integrated abilities encompassing the reflective discovery of information, the understanding of how information is produced and valued, and the use of information in creating new knowledge and participating ethically in communities of learning” (American Library Association, 2016).
Ever-evolving digital technologies influence how we retrieve, document, share and use information in teaching and learning in classrooms and in clinical practice. The World Wide Web has become an expanding source of health related information, and as future health care providers, nursing students should be competent in locating, using and evaluating online health information (Tubaishat & Habiballah, 2016).
It is imperative that nurses build strong information literacy skills to know when further information is needed and how to effectively find, retrieve, evaluate, synthesize, and apply their findings.
